Rainbow Birds – a book by staff at Oakwood

Rainbow Birds is a celebration of the artistic achievements and original thinking of our unique 3-5 year olds.

Rainbow Birds is a celebration of the artistic achievements and original thinking of our unique 3-5 year olds.

This book is written by Maeve Birdsall, Jasmine Priestley and Claire Clithero. It celebrates the fantastic curriculum in our Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) at Co-op Academy Oakwood.

At Oakwood, we celebrate our culturally diverse setting, developing children’s awareness of and respect for others. The wellbeing of children in our academy is extremely important to us. Children meet their full potential when they are happy, confident and valued. This book shows the positive impact on children when we value and nurture creativity.

The book got its title during a conversation with Umaimah, one of our nursery children. We told Umaimah that we were writing a book about art. She decided upon the name due to her own particular interests and it stuck!

Through the creation of this book, we have an amazing opportunity to share some of the ways we respond to our children’s wealth of ideas. All while supporting the crucial work of our chosen charity, a charity also championed by the Co-op – Mind

“We won’t give up until everyone experiencing a mental health problem gets support and respect.”

Previous Book

This is the second book to be released by staff in our Early Years setting. Maeve and Jasmine previously wrote ‘The Wrinkle People’. A delightful book celebrating children’s wealth of ideas. It was sparked by their interest in the elderly within our community.
