Summer of Sports

We love sport at Co-op Academy Oakwood

Our children love sport and PE. From athletics to yoga our children have enjoyed lots of different sports over the past year. With the Paris Olympics around the corner our pupils have had the opportunity to join in a range of sports thanks to staff and pupils from Year 6.

Sports Days

The windy weather did not put off the children on our sports days! The children competed in a range of races from sack races to egg and spoon races to sprints. Each child competed for one of the houses - Harewood, Roundhay, Temple Newsam, Lotherton and Kirkstall. The collected points for their houses. What was amazing to see was the support that pupils offered each other when competing. Lots of chants and cheers could be heard supporting each other during the races. One of the best parts was the wellie wanging to see who could throw the wellie the furthest.

Cricket Competitions

Some of our Year 6 children love cricket and they saw that they weren't the only ones in school. Based on this the children decided to create a whole Key Stage competition. The children worked with the teachers to organise for each class to compete in a cricket contest. We cannot wait to find out who the winners are.

The organisation of the tournament has taken dedication and hard work from the pupils. They cannot wait to find out who is in the finals!
