Global learning award winners

Miss Aasim and a small group of Year 6 pupils were invited to the Development Education Centre’s Global Learning Awards. The academy was nominated for an award for their work on the curriculum. Co-op Academy Oakwood has worked hard over the past few years to ensure that our curriculum reflects the communities we serve and the wider world. We have strived to address racism through building a curriculum which celebrates the impact and influence of all. Because of this we were awards with a ‘Highly Commended’  in the decolonising the curriculum category.

Music for all

On Wednesday, we were incredibly lucky to be joined by members of our local Gypsy-Roma community. Pupils listened and danced to a range of different songs performed by the band. Lots of children enjoyed dancing and were taught by their friends some traditional moves. Mrs Duffy was taught by S some brilliant new moves!

Peace Mala

As a Peace Mala school we ‘Treat others as you would wish them to treat you’. Pupils may buy a Peace Mala bracelet via the Arbor App. If you are having trouble using the app please speak to Mrs Bahi in the office.
