Year 5 Herd Farm Residential
Year 5 Herd Farm Residential
Some of the Year 5 pupils went to Herd Farm Activity and Residential Centre for a residential trip. Miss Spivey, Miss McMaster and Miss O'Hea came to supervise but also enjoyed and tried out the activities.
When we arrived we met activity workers including Gem, Shane, Becky and Emma. We were given a tour of the enormous site and once we arrived at the dinner hall we were given our bedsheets. After instructions on how to make our bed, Gem (one of our tour guides) introduced us to our dorm rooms.
At Herd Farm we participated in many activities, which were all an experience of a lifetime. Firstly, we took part in crate stack, which is where there are crates that you have to climb with a partner while you are dangled on a rope! Other activities included leap of faith, archery, night-line and lipline, but one of the most exciting activities was orienteering. We had maps with numbers and had to find the different numbers and codes - they were all over the site! It was really fun, but some people got grumpy if they couldn't find a point on the map.
After a long walk, we had hot chocolate and biscuits. We liked bedtime because we had the chance to talk with our friends, but some people snored rather loudly! In the morning, we woke up to Miss Spivey and Miss McMaster singing.
The zip-line was one of the favourite activities of many of the pupils because although it was high and scary, it was amazing zipping across the Herd Farm site.
