Welcome to

Co-op Academy Oakwood

Hello, a very warm welcome to Co-op Academy Oakwood’s website. Our school motto is, ‘Be the best you can be.’ We want our staff and children to be the very best versions of themselves, and we encourage high expectations. From the moment your journey with us begins, you will see that we believe in fostering a Growth Mindset. Where we embrace challenges and use them to learn new things.

Co-op Academy Oakwood is a vibrant academy where children are enthusiastic and motivated to learn. Children are at the heart of every decision we make to ensure that the opportunities we provide are memorable and relevant to our pupils both now and in the future.

A Warm Welcome
From our Executive Headteacher

Rimah Aasim, Executive Headteacher

My journey at the academy started in January 2019. After leading another school as Headteacher I decided to start a new chapter here. I chose the academy and the Trust because the Ways of Being Co-op and the values aligned with my own.

What do people say?

The way in which leaders engage with the community is a strength of this school. The pastoral team establishes positive relationships with families. The use of external agencies, for example art psychotherapists, helps to strengthen bonds between parents, their children and teachers. Leaders arrange for visitors to speak to pupils about potential future careers. This raises pupils’ aspirations.

Ofsted 2023

There is a wide range of opportunities for pupils to develop their talents and interests through extracurricular activities, such as the choir and the pottery, drama or coding clubs. Older pupils access science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) workshops through the University of Bradford. This is part of the school’s high-quality, careers-related learning programme.

Ofsted 2023

Pupils are happy in school. The school provides exceptional pastoral support to pupils and their families. They know that they can talk to a trusted adult, such as the therapeutic practitioner, about any of their worries or concerns.

Ofsted 2023

The curriculum for personal, social and health education (PSHE) is well thought out. Pupils learn about challenging and complex issues through carefully chosen texts. These texts are particularly effective in developing pupils’ understanding of the protected characteristics, such as disability and race.
