These experiences allow our pupils to engage even more in their learning. The experiences are linked to the topics they cover in lessons and help deepen their understanding. As our pupils discover the world around them, they prepare themselves for life outside of Oakwood.
Nursery
- Farm visit
- Use of the orchard
Reception
- Use of the orchard- outdoor learning/forest school- type activities
- Off-site visit linked with child-led planning: e.g Tropical World, Temple Newsam, Eureka
Year 1
- Beach/seaside visit
Year 2
- Animals (wild/exotic)- visit or enhancement
Year 3
- Shopping- small group visit to the supermarket
- Musical experience- visit from musical group e.g string quartet/steel band
Year 4
- Shakespeare drama
- Gardening: planting, growing and harvesting food
Year 5
- Residential/outward bound – Bolton Abbey (rural experience)
- Musical experience – visit from musical group e.g. string quartet/steel band

- Transport experience – train journey
